Holding a 38-35 halftime lead, the Fever limited the Sky to 3-of-13 shooting and forced five turnovers in the third quarter. Chicago did not score after rookie Candice Dupree's jumper cut the deficit to 44-43 at the 6:50 mark.
Indiana took a 52-43 lead into the final period and widened the margin to 59-43 on a free throw by Tan White with 8:32 to go. Chicago finally ended its drought on a basket by Chelsea Newton with 6:54 remaining but got no closer than four points thereafter.
Ebony Hoffman scored nine points and Tamika Whitmore added eight for the Fever, who held a 36-27 rebounding advantage.
Dupree scored a season-high 25 points and Amanda Lassiter added 18 for the Sky, who closed the first half with a 13-0 run after trailing by as many as 16 points. Chicago has lost nine of its last 10 games.
The teams meet again August 13.
