CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 29, 2006 (Ticker) -- Erin Thorn proved to be a thorn in the side of the Charlotte Sting.

Thorn scored a career-high 25 points as the New York Liberty posted an 85-80 victory over the Sting.

Shameka Christon scored 16 points and Loree Moore 11 for the Liberty (6-20), who have won consecutive games following an 11-game losing streak. The skid started with a 73-67 setback against the Sting on June 27.

Thorn was a major reason the Liberty have their first winning streak in more than a month. The fourth-year guard made four 3-pointers and finished 8-of-13 from the floor.

Thorn was at her best in the fourth quarter, when she scored 12 points to help the Liberty keep the lead. New York also made all 11 of its free throws in the final period.

The Liberty used an 11-0 run in the third quarter to erase a six-point deficit to take the lead for good. Barbara Farris' layup with 4:24 left in the period capped the surge and gave the Liberty a 54-49 advantage.

Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 19 points and Tangela Smith 15 for the Sting, who shot 43 percent (24-of-56) and committed 17 turnovers.
