NEW YORK, July 24 (Ticker) -- Katie Douglas once again put together a star-studded performance at Madison Square Garden.

Douglas scored nine of her 16 points in the third quarter as the Connecticut Sun posted an 89-71 victory to hand the New York Liberty their 11th consecutive loss.

In her first game here since July 12, when she scored 16 points and was named the Most Valuable Player in the East's first win in the WNBA All-Star Game, Douglas again came up with big shots.

With the Eastern Conference-leading Sun (18-6) holding a 50-44 lead with 7:50 to play in the third quarter, Douglas hit a pair of 3-pointers during a 12-4 run. Taj McWilliams-Franklin, who scored 22 points, had three baskets during the spurt, which put Connecticut ahead, 62-48, with 3:58 left.

McWilliams-Franklin added two more baskets to start the fourth period, making it 75-56 with 8:45 remaining.

Lindsay Whalen scored 16 points and Asjha Jones chipped in 13 for the Sun, who beat the Liberty for the third time this season with one game remaining in the season series.

Cathrine Kraayeveld scored a career-high 22 points and Erin Thorn added 19 off the bench for New York (4-20), which absorbed its sixth straight home setback in becoming the first WNBA team to reach the 20-loss plateau.
