LOS ANGELES, July 18, 2006 (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Sparks continue to show why they are the best team in the WNBA.

Lisa Leslie scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Sparks won their sixth straight game with a 70-62 victory over the reeling New York Liberty.

Jessica Moore scored a career-high 11 points and added four rebounds for the Sparks (18-5), who also have won four in a row at home.

The Sparks took control early, using a 7-0 run to end the first quarter to build a 15-10 lead. They stretched the margin to 36-25 at halftime and cruised to their ninth victory in their last 11 games.

Los Angeles opened a 52-30 bulge on a jumper by Chamique Holdsclaw with 3:01 remaining in the third quarter.

Shameka Christon scored 18 points and Kelly Schumacher added 17 for the Liberty, who dropped their season-high eighth straight game.

All-Star Becky Hammon missed her third straight game with an ankle injury for New York, which has lost 11 of 13 and dropped to 2-10 on the road.
