HOUSTON, June 29 (Ticker) -- A return home fixed the shooting woes for Tina Thompson and Sheryl Swoopes.

Thompson scored eight of her 22 points in the fourth quarter and Swoopes ended with 17 as the Houston Comets used a late flurry to record an 83-76 victory over the Washington Mystics for their eighth straight home win.

Mustering a season-low two points on 1-of-12 shooting during a 73-57 loss at the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, Thompson scored four points during a game-ending 10-0 spurt.

With the Mystics holding a 76-73 lead with under three minutes to play, Thompson sandwiched a pair of inside shots around a long jumper from Tamecka Dixon for a 79-76 advantage with 38 seconds left.

Washington ended up missing its final eight shots and DawnStaley and Michelle Snow both added a pair of free throws for Houston, which avenged a 93-79 setback to the Mystics on June 6.

Swoopes, who missed 11 of 15 shots against the Sun, went 7-of-13 from the field, grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists.

Snow had 14 points and 17 rebounds and Staley scored 13 for the Comets, who shot 54 percent (31-of-57) to overcome 15 turnovers.

Chasity Melvin scored 20 points and Alana Beard added 17 for Washington, which managed just 12 points in the final quarter.
