LOS ANGELES, June 28 (Ticker) -- Betty Lennox had 27 points and eight
rebounds and the Seattle Storm took control in the second
quarter en route to a 75-67 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks,
who had an eight-game winning streak stopped.
Sue Bird added 11 points for the Storm, who improved to 2-0
against the Sparks this season. Los Angeles also lost for the
first time in eight games at the STAPLES Center, leaving Detroit
(6-0) and Indiana (6-0) as the only unbeaten home teams.
It was a rough night for Sparks star Lisa Leslie, who battled
foul trouble and scored 15 points while committing five
turnovers. The WNBA Player of the Week in each of the last
two weeks, Leslie scored a career-high 41 points in Sunday's
win over San Antonio.
Lennox made 11-of-21 shots and also collected four steals.
Seattle used an 18-7 run to start the second quarter to open a
commanding 37-20 lead. The Storm led by double digits
throughout much of the second half in winning for the third time
in their last four games.
Tamara Moore scored 16 points for Los Angeles, which shot just
2-of-13 from the arc.
