Katie Douglas added 15 points and Margo Dydek contributed 10 and 13 rebounds for the Sun, who trailed for only 12 seconds in improving to 6-1 at home.

Sales scored eight points in the first quarter, when Connecticut raced to a 19-8 lead. Houston made just 4-of-20 shots and committed five of its 17 turnovers in the opening period.

Named to the WNBA's All-Decade Team earlier this year, Thompson had a forgettable night. The six-year veteran was held to a career-low two points on 1-of-12 shooting.

It also was a struggle for Comets star Sheryl Swoopes, who was limited to nine points on 4-of-15 shooting.
