The Monarchs shut down red-hot Tamika Whitmore and ended the Fever's three-game winning streak, using a balanced attack to roll to an 82-61 victory.

However, Whitmore was limited to two points on 0-of-6 shooting. Her teammates weren't much better as Indiana finished at 39 percent (24-of-62) from the field and fell to 1-5 all-time at Arco Arena.
The Fever were just 2-of-11 in the first quarter, falling into a 16-7 hole. The Monarchs used a 17-4 run in the second period capped by Erin Buescher's three-point play to open a 35-13 advantage with 4:35 left in the first half.
Buescher, Yolanda Griffith and DeMya Walker scored 11 points apiece and Kara Lawson added 10 for the Monarchs, who shot 47 percent (32-of-68) and held a 38-27 advantage in rebounds. Sacramento led by double digits the entire second half.
Reserve Tan White scored 18 points for the Fever, who dropped to 1-1 on their three-game road trip. All-Star Tamika Catchings managed 10 on 3-of-11 shooting.
