AUBURN HILLS, Mich., June 24 (Ticker) -- Swin Cash helped the Detroit
Shock notch another home win while continuing the Washington
Mystics' road woes.
Cash scored 19 points and Detroit remained unbeaten at home this
season with a 92-86 victory over Washington.
Detroit (8-4) improved to 5-0 at home with the win and used a
balanced scoring attack to get it. Cash was 9-of-15 from the
field and added six rebounds and five assists. Deanna Nolan and
Cheryl Ford each had 18 points, Katie Smith added 17 and a
career-high nine assists and Ruth Riley scored 10 points for the
Shock.
Washington (7-5) led 72-71 with 5:18 to go but could not hold on
and dropped to 1-5 on the road and have lost two straight
overall.
Nolan sparked a 10-2 run by scoring five points as Detroit took
a 82-73 lead with 2:27 to play. Washington got no closer than
five the rest of the way.
Alana Beard scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half and
Nikki Teasley had 16 for the Mystics.
