Last season, Leslie was held to an average of 16.5 points and a 31 percent shooting mark in two meetings - both losses - with Connecticut. But on Saturday, Leslie started out strong, tallying 20 points in the first half. She went on to finish 12-of-22 from the floor while adding seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

Thomas grabbed 11 boards for the Sparks, who have won four in a row while remaining perfect (4-0) at the Staples Center.

After three quarters, Los Angeles held just a 58-56 edge. But it took control of the game with an 8-0 run to start the fourth for a 66-56 advantage and played with a comfortable lead thereafter.

Asjha Jones scored 16 points for the Sun, who were dominated on the boards, 41-25, en route to losing their second straight contest following a five-game winning streak.

Leslie's first-half effort helped the Sparks turn a nine-point first-quarter deficit into a 40-38 edge at halftime.
