SAN ANTONIO (Ticker) -- The New York Liberty finally got a road victory.

Becky Hammon scored 23 points and Shameka Christon added nine, as the Liberty held on for their first road victory, 71-67, over the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Kelly Schumacher added eight rebounds as the Liberty snapped a four-game road losing streak. The SilverStars shot 36 percent (21-of-59) from the field, their worst shooting output of the season.

New York, which led virtually the entire way, ended the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 13-11 advantage. The Liberty extended their lead to 10 on a layup by Loree Moore late in the second quarter, but the SilverStars cut their deficit to 30-24 on a buzzer-beating perimeter jumper by Vickie Johnson.

Behind nine third-quarter points by Hammon, New York pushed its margin to 51-42 before withholding San Antonio's late push. The SilverStars cut their deficit to 69-66 on a jump shot by Johnson with 10 seconds left.

Johnson scored 15 points and rookie Sophia Young added 12 for San Antonio, which has lost it second straight game and is 0-4 at the AT&T Center.
