UNCASVILLE, Conn., June 9 (Ticker) -- The Connecticut Sun
continued their home dominance.
Katie Douglas scored 18 points and Nykesha Sales added 17 as the
Sun held on for their fourth straight victory, 85-81, over the
Seattle Storm.
Lindsay Whalen added nine assists and all five starters scored
in double figures for Connecticut (6-1), which improved to 3-1
at Mohegan Sun Arena this season.
The Sun, who led the entire way, jumped out to a quick 10-point
lead and led, 25-13, after the first quarter behind Asjha Jones'
six first-quarter points. Connecticut held a 38-29 lead at the
half, holding Seattle's All-Stars Lauren Jackson and Sue Bird
to a combined four points.
A 3-pointer by Sales gave the Sun their biggest lead of the
game, 50-35, midway through the third and then withheld a
furious Storm rally. Seattle cut their deficit to 83-81 on a
3-pointer by rookie Barbara Turner with seven seconds left.
Janell Burse posted career highs with 23 points and 14 rebounds
and Jackson added 17 for the Storm, who lost the opening game
of a five-game road-trip.
Bird was held to just two points but added nine assists.
