NEW YORK, June 3 (Ticker) -- Catherine Kraayeveld gave the New York Liberty hope. Shameka Christon gave them their first win.

Kraayeveld made a tying 3-pointer with three seconds left in regulation and Christon scored her team's first five points of overtime as the Liberty rallied for an 89-79 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks, who ended a long road trip.

Becky Hammon scored 24 points and Sherill Baker added 17 for the Liberty, who had lost their first four games but pounced when Sparks star Lisa Leslie fouled out in the extra session.

Kraayeveld had made just two of her first nine shots when she drained her 3-pointer - the third attempt of the possession by New York - to forge a 68-68 tie.

Christon opened overtime with a 3-pointer and two free throws, fouling out Leslie in the process and giving the Liberty a 73-69 lead with 3:34 remaining. Hammon scored six points in overtime, when New York made 8-of-13 free throws.

Christon scored 13 points for the Liberty, who won despite shooting 33 percent (24-of-73) and being outrebounded, 47-31.

Leslie had 26 points and 15 rebounds and Temeka Johnson scored 17 points for the Sparks, who shot 45 percent (30-of-67) but committed 22 turnovers.

Los Angeles went 3-3 on its season-opening trek, allowing an average of just over 63 points in its wins and more than 97 points in the losses.
