SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 2 (Ticker) -- Vickie Johnson and the San Antonio Silver Stars have shined away from home.

Johnson scored 22 points as the surprising Silver Stars remained unbeaten on the road by holding on for a 74-71 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs.

Kendra Wecker added 16 points for the Silver Stars, who improved to 3-0 on the road despite having a 21-point third-quarter lead whittled to one in the final minute. San Antonio went just 2-15 on the road last season.

The Monarchs used a 16-3 surge in the fourth quarter to get back in the game. Kara Lawson's basket with 60 seconds remaining pulled Sacramento within 72-71.

Lawson had a chance to give the Monarchs the lead but had her shot blocked by Sophia Young with 18 seconds left. Three seconds later, Johnson made two free throws for her only points of the fourth quarter and a 74-71 edge.

In the final five seconds, Lawson missed a pair of 3-pointers, sending Sacramento to its first loss in four home contests.

Lawson scored 15 points to pace Sacramento, which shot just 34 percent (24-of-71) from the field. Katie Feenstra's three-point play with 3:18 left in the third quarter capped a 14-4 run and gave the Silver Stars their biggest lead at 61-40.
