SEATTLE, June 2 (Ticker) -- Lauren Jackson scored 27 points and the Seattle Storm overwhelmed the winless Phoenix Mercury on the backboards en route to a record-setting 97-87 victory.

Betty Lennox scored 13 points for the Storm (3-2), who had six players in double figures and set a franchise record for points as they beat the defenseless Mercury for the second time this season.

Seattle held a 45-27 advantage in rebounding. Janell Burse swept 10 boards and Jackson and Wendy Palmer-Daniel added nine apiece.

Jackson scored 14 points in the first half as the Storm opened a 53-39 lead. Seattle held a 22-7 advantage on the glass, grabbed seven offensive rebounds to four defensive boards for Phoenix.

Jackson scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, which was enough to hold off a rally by the Mercury. Phoenix closed to 89-85 with 3:11 remaining on a 3-pointer by Diana Taurasi, who scored 16 points. But Sue Bird answered with a bucket, and it was at least a two-possession game thereafter.

Burse and Iziane Castro-Marques scored 12 points each, Palmer-Daniel added 11 and Bird 10 for the Storm, who shot 51.5 percent (35-of-68) from the field. Jackson made 11-of-17 shots.

Rookie Cappie Pondexter scored a season-high 30 points and Kamila Vodichkova added 18 for the Mercury (0-4), who shot 46 percent (31-of-67).
