Chicago chipped away in the second half and got within 53-50 with 5:31 remaining when Stacey Lovelace-Tolbert converted a layup for her third consecutive basket.
Leslie, who made just 5-of-18 shots, scored 10 of the Sparks' final 20 points and combined with Tamara Moore and Temeka Johnson to hit 11 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Los Angeles became the first team in the Western Conference with a 3-1 record despite shooting less than 35 percent (20-of-58) and making just 1-of-11 attempts from the arc.
Jia Perkins scored 12 points and Amanda Lassiter added 11 for the Sky, who set a season low in points and are winless in three home games.
