SAN ANTONIO, May 25 (Ticker) -- Lisa Leslie continues to make life miserable for her opponents.

Leslie scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for her second straight double-double to lead the Los Angeles Sparks to an 80-71 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars.

Playing her 10th season, Leslie is averaging 25.7 points in her first three games this year. The former Most Valuable Player scored 10 points in the first quarter as Los Angeles jumped to an 18-8 lead.

The Sparks widened the margin to 29-14 midway through the second period before San Antonio began to chip away. Sophia Young hit a 13-foot jumper with 7:03 left in the third quarter to bring the Silver Stars within 38-36.

After Los Angeles rebuilt the lead to 65-55 with 6:03 to play, Vickie Johnson scored five points and Shannon Johnson added four during a 12-4 run as San Antonio cut the margin to 69-67 with 1:53 left.

However, Leslie hit a layup with 57 seconds remaining and combined with Doneeka Hodges and Jessica Moore to hit 8-of-8 free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Hodges scored 14 points and Tamara Moore added 10 for the Sparks, who have won eight straight meetings with the Silver Stars.

Kendra Wecker led San Antonio with 16 points and Johnson added 13.
