A 6-5 forward who is one of the club's pivotal players, Jackson battled a shin injury last season. In the offseason, she was diagnosed with two stress fractures in her left leg and told she would need more than six months to recover.

Jackson looked quite fit in the opener, making 8-of-11 shots and grabbing six rebounds in 27 minutes. She scored 15 points after halftime to help the Storm take control for good.

Signed as a free agent after spending last season with San Antonio, Palmer collected 18 points and 12 rebounds. The veteran forward scored 10 points in the first half, helping the Storm grab a 42-32 lead.

Lisa Leslie scored 24 points and Mwadi Mabika added 19 for Los Angeles, which played without Chamique Holdsclaw (personal reasons).
