MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 16 (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Lynx temporarily revived their fading playoff hopes with an important victory.

Chandi Jones scored 17 points and Nicole Ohlde added 16 as the Lynx won for just the second time in eight games, posting a 73-62 victory over the Houston Comets.

Entering the contest a game behind Phoenix for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, Minnesota used a game-ending 16-6 run.

Minnesota used a 9-0 run to open the second to take a 47-34 lead with 16:39 remaining. However, the Comets chipped away and took a 57-56 lead with 6:28 left on two free throws by Sheryl Swoopes.

But 26 seconds later, Svetlana Abrosimova hit a jumper to give the Lynx the lead for good.

Houston pulled with 64-62 on a layup by Swoopes with 3:23 left but Minnesota scored the final nine points. Abrosimova scored five of her 14 points in the game-ending surge.

Swoopes scored 21 points and Michelle Snow added 17 for Houston (16-14).
