LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13 (Ticker) -- The desperate Los Angeles Sparks boosted their playoff hopes at the expense of the Indiana Fever.

Chamique Holdsclaw scored four of her 18 points during a crucial second-half run as the Sparks pulled away for a 69-59 victory over the Indiana Fever.

The Sparks, who won for just the second time in eight games, moved within one game of Phoenix for the fourth playoff spot in the Western Conference.

With Indiana holding a 44-43 edge with 12:41 remaining, Holdsclaw scored two baskets during a 9-0 run over the next five minutes as Los Angeles took the lead for good.

Holdsclaw shot 6-of-9 from the floor, made 6-of-8 eight free throws and added five rebounds and four assists in 40 minutes. Lisa Leslie added 15 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for Los Angeles, which shot 47 percent (23-of-49) and held Indiana to just 34 percent (19-of-56).

Tamika Catchings scored 10 points but shot just 2-of-11 from the floor and Kelly Miller scored 10 for the Fever, whose lead over New York for second place in the Eastern Conference dropped to one game.
