WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 (Ticker) -- Alana Beard and DeLisha Milton-Jones helped the Washington Mystics inch closer to the Indiana Fever and home-court advantage in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Beard scored 17 points and Milton-Jones added 11 and four assists as the Mystics posted a 61-60 triumph over the Fever.

Beard scored four points in a key 11-0 run late in the first half that helped Washington erase an early double-digit deficit.

Milton-Jones scored nine of her points in the opening half, but the last two were the most important as she made two free throws with 7.3 seconds left to give the Mystics a 59-57 lead.

Chasity Melvin added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds for Washington, which shot 50 percent (23-of-46) from the field and from the arc (6-of-12).

Kelly Miller scored 16 points and Natalie Williams added 14 and nine assists for the Fever (15-11), who have lost three of four but still hold a 1 1/2-game edge on the Mystics (14-12) for the second playoff spot.

Indiana's Tamika Catchings added 11 points and seven rebounds, but committed a key turnover with 15 seconds left and missed a potential game-tying jumper in the final seconds.
