The Liberty trailed, 37-34, before Becky Hammon scored to trigger a decisive 14-0 surge. Wauters made a hoop to give New York the lead for good and added another basket during the surge.

Shameka Christon scored five of her 14 points in the run, which Deanna Jackson capped at 47-36 with 9:36 to play. Indiana got no closer than four points thereafter.

Elena Baranova scored 14 points and Hammon added 11 for New York, which shot 46 percent (22-of-48) despite playing without Crystal Robinson, who sat out with a sprained right pinky.

Natalie Williams scored a season-high 15 points and Tamika Catchings added 10 and 10 rebounds for Indiana, which shot just 37 percent (23-of-62) and lost for just the third time in nine games.
