SACRAMENTO, Calif., July 29 (Ticker) -- Yolanda Griffith and the Sacramento Monarchs made it look easy.

Griffith scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half and the Monarchs never trailed en route to a 79-59 triumph over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Griffith, who scored 20 points in the Monarchs' 64-54 victory over the Charlotte Sting on Tuesday, also grabbed six rebounds in this one.

The Monarchs, who built a 38-30 halftime edge, benefited from a 13-2 run early in the second half capped by Kara Lawson's basket with 12:02 left to grab a commanding 59-36 lead. Ticha Penicheiro reached 1,501 career points with a basket during the span.

Rebekkah Brunson chipped in a career-high 15 points along with eight rebounds and Nicole Powell added 12 points for the Monarchs, who led by as many as 24 points. They outscored the Sparks, 44-20, in the paint.

Lisa Leslie scored 14 points and Chamique Holdsclaw added 12 for the Sparks.
