Lauren Jackson, who left Tuesday's win over New York with a sprained right ankle, scored 21 points for the Storm (12-10), who had to weather a late charge in both halves.

Deanna Nolan scored four straight points and Ruth Riley added a free throw to pull Detroit (8-11) into a 71-71 tie with 39 seconds to go. Lennox, who finished with 10 points, responded with a basket off an inbounds pass with 18 seconds left, Seattle's first basket in more than five minutes.

Nolan missed a long 3-pointer with seven seconds left and Lennox grabbed the rebound before being fouled. She split two free throws and Nolan was off on a desperation heave at the buzzer.

The Storm raced to a 29-14 lead in the first half before the Shock rallied to tie it at halftime, 44-44. Detroit took the momentum into the second half and took a 54-49 lead less than six minutes in on two free throws by Nolan, who finished with 22 points.

After a series of lead changes, Suzy Batkovic and Sue Bird made a free throw apiece and Jackson added two to give Seattle a 71-66 lead, its largest after the break.

Bird scored 14 points for the Storm, who have won eight of their last 10 at home.

Cheryl Ford scored 15 points and Chandi Jones came off the bench to provide 10 but the Shock lost for the 10th time in 13 games after a 5-1 start.
