UNCASVILLE, Conn., June 28 (Ticker) -- In a matchup of conference leaders, Nykesha Sales helped the Connecticut Sun continue to feast on West Coast teams.

Sales scored 19 points and Lindsay Whalen added 14 as the Sun captured their third consecutive win over a Western Conference opponent with a 70-66 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs.

In its first game back at Mohegan Sun Arena after a 4-1 trip on the West Coast, Connecticut (11-2) shot 47 percent (27-of-57) and grabbed seven steals.

Sales, who grabbed three of the steals, became the ninth player in WNBA history to reach 3,000 points. She reached the milestone on her final basket of the game, a fadeaway jumper that gave the Sun a 64-55 lead with 1:46 to play.

Whalen scored nine second-half points and handed out five assists for Connecticut, which took the lead at 13-12 with 14:05 left in the opening half and never looked back, leading by as many as 10 points.

Yolanda Griffith and DeMya Walker combined to score 32 points and grab 16 rebounds for the Monarchs (9-4). Walker pulled down a season-high 12 rebounds and handed out six assists.

Nicole Powell added 10 points and six boards for Sacramento, which dropped to 1-1 on its season-high five-game road trip.
