HOUSTON (Ticker) -- The San Antonio Silver Stars hope to figure
out a way to contain Sheryl Swoopes when they face the Houston
Comets on Saturday at the Toyota Center.
San Antonio has dropped each of its two meetings with Houston
this season, with each setback coming at home. In this one, the
Silver Stars go on the road to try to defeat the Comets, but
will need to find a way to slow down Swoopes, the league's
third-leading scorer.
The 6-foot Swoopes has averaged 23.5 points and shot 50 percent
(15-of-30) in the two previous wins against San Antonio.
Houston has not played since last Saturday, when it posted a
75-69 win over the Silver Stars. In addition to a strong game
from Swoopes, the Comets also received 17 points from Tari
Phillips and 12 from Michelle Snow in snapping a four-game
skid.
The Silver Stars are coming off a 64-49 win at Charlotte on
Thursday that broke a six-game road losing streak. Marie
Ferdinand scored 19 points and rookie Katie Feenstra added 13
for San Antonio, which shot 50 percent (23-of-46) and held the
Sting to 38 percent (22-of-58) from the field.
