MINNEAPOLIS, June 11 (Ticker) -- Katie Smith got hot from long distance and her teammates followed her example.

Smith scored a season-high 27 points to lead the Minnesota Lynx to their third consecutive victory, a 78-60 triumph over the Washington Mystics.

A seven-year veteran, Smith made five baskets from behind the arc and led the Lynx in scoring for the sixth straight contest. She recorded her 81st 20-point game, leaving her eight behind Los Angeles Sparks All-Star Lisa Leslie for the league record.

Minnesota (4-3) broke open the game with a 16-2 run, highlighted by back-to-back 3-pointers by Smith and Svetlana Abrosimova for a 56-43 advantage midway through the second half.

The Lynx were 10-for-17 from the behind the arc and have their longest winning streak since a six-game stretch from July 9-22.

Abrosimova scored 13 points and Nicole Ohlde and Stacey Lovelace-Tolbert added 10 each for the Lynx, who shot 51 percent (27-of-53) from the floor and had a 31-22 rebounding edge.

Alana Beard scored 19 points and DeLisha Milton-Jones had 10 for the Mystics (3-6), who shot 31 percent (8-of-26) in the second half.

After scoring in double figures in six of her last seven games, Chasity Melvin missed 10-of-11 shots and finished with just five points for Washington, which has lost three of its last four.
