SACRAMENTO, Calif., June 7 (Ticker) -- The Sacramento Monarchs are
off to a good start at home.
Yolanda Griffith scored 22 points and Ticha Penicheiro added 15
as the Monarchs rolled to a 65-51 victory over the Indiana
Fever.
After going 3-1 on a season-opening road trip, the Monarchs
returned home and have won their two games at Arco Arena by a
combined 42 points. They were coming off an 81-53 rout of Los
Angeles on Saturday.
Griffith led the way in this one, making 7-of-13 shots from the
field. She scored 12 points in the first half, helping the
Monarchs open a 35-23 lead.
Sacramento also avenged its only loss in six games, a 61-60
defeat at Indiana on June 1.
DeMya Walker added 12 points and Nicole Powell chipped in 10 for
Sacramento, which shot 43 percent (21-of-49).
Tamika Catchings scored 13 points and Kelly Miller 12 for the
Fever, who have lost three of four after winning their first
three games of the season.
