MINNEAPOLIS, June 4 (Ticker) -- Katie Smith continues to show she is in
top condition after season-ending knee surgery last September.
Smith scored 17 points to lead the Minnesota Lynx to their first
home victory in five meetings with the Charlotte Sting, a 73-67
triumph.
A four-time WNBA All-Star who suffered torn cartilage in her
right knee last summer, Smith scored eight of Minnesota's final
13 points. She made a 3-pointer with 1:23 to play to give the
Lynx a 69-60 edge.
Svetlana Abrosimova scored 10 of her 15 points in the second
half and Nicole Ohlde added 14 for Minnesota (2-3), which shot
54 percent (27-of-50) from the floor.
The Lynx, who bounced back from a loss to Washington on Friday,
broke a six-game losing streak against the Sting and beat
Charlotte for the third time in 10 meetings.
Tammy Sutton-Brown scored 14 points and Tangela Smith and
Tynesha Lewis added 11 for Charlotte (1-5).
