SEATTLE, May 29 (Ticker) -- Lauren Jackson helped the defending WNBA champions deliver an early knockout punch.

Jackson scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Seattle Storm to a 79-51 triumph over the winless San Antonio Silver Stars.

The 2003 Most Valuable Player, Jackson made 8-of-16 shots, including a layup that broke a 15-15 tie and sparked a 15-0 run midway through the first half.

Sue Bird made four 3-pointers and scored a season-high 18 points. Betty Lennox, the MVP of last year's Finals, added 12 for Seattle (2-1), which won its fourth straight meeting against the Silver Stars.

Coming off a 9-25 season last year, San Antonio (0-4) had its worst start in franchise history extended and did not have a player score in double figures.

Wendy Palmer scored nine points for the Silver Stars, who shot 38 percent (22-of-58) from the floor, committed 20 turnovers and were outrebounded, 31-27.
