INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 13 (Ticker) -- Sue Bird scored 14 of her 17 points in
the second half as the Seattle Storm rallied for a 76-70 victory
over the Indiana Fever.
Bird, who made four of her five shots over the final 20 minutes,
had four free throws in the final 12 seconds to help the Storm
snap a four-game road losing streak. She also had seven assists
and two steals.
Forward Lauren Jackson had 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting and
pulled down nine rebounds for Seattle, which held the Fever to
just 9-of-29 shooting and blocking eight shots in the second
half.
Janell Burse scored 10 points and had five blocks for Seattle,
which took a 1 1/2-game lead over idle Minnesota for second
place in the Western Conference.
Tamika Catchings had 16 points and eight rebounds for Indiana.
Kelly Schumacher scored 15 and Natalie Williams chipped in 11
points for the Fever, who went through two droughts of six
minutes or more without a field goal after halftime.
