AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 1 (Ticker) -- The Minnesota Lynx found another way to win without Katie Smith.

Svetlana Abrosimova had 12 points to lead a balanced scoring attack in Minnesota's 59-58 win over the Detroit Shock in the final game for both teams before the WNBA takes a one-month hiatus for the Olympics.

Detroit, which trailed for the entire second half, pulled within one point after Swin Cash made a layup with seven seconds left. The Shock had a chance to take the lead after the Lynx's Nicole Ohlde missed two free throws on the other end, but Elaine Powell turned the ball over with five seconds to go.

The Shock's final push fell short when Deanna Nolan's desperation jumper at the buzzer failed to hit the rim.

It was Minnesota's second win in three games without Smith, the team's leading scorer. Smith injured her right knee on July 23 against the Washington Mystics.

Cash scored 16 points to keep Detroit close without Olympian Ruth Riley, who got into foul trouble in the first half and played sparingly in the second. The Shock failed to tie the New York Liberty for first place in the Eastern Conference.

The Lynx hit 14-of-27 shots in the first half to take a 39-33 lead into the break. Minnesota hit just 9-of-26 in the second, however, which kept Detroit close.
