HOUSTON, July 15 (Ticker) -- Tina Thompson scored 21 of her 33 points in a big first half as the Houston Comets rolled to a 97-61 rout of the Detroit Shock.

Playing in her third game since missing eight with a leg injury, Thompson made 12-of-20 shots as she fell two points shy of her season high.

Thompson scored 12 of her points to trigger a 20-4 run that gave the Comets a 27-12 lead with 11:41 left in the first half. The lead grew to 49-30 at the break.

Sheila Lambert added 19 points and Michelle Snow 15 for the Comets, whose point total was the highest in the WNBA this season. Houston led by as many as 42 points in the second half.

Deanna Nolan scored 16 points to pace Detroit, which lost for the sixth time in eight games.
