Smith, who entered the season in fourth place on the WNBA's all-time scoring list, put on a show for the 6,324 fans at the Target Center. She made 12-of-22 shots, draining six 3-pointers in the process.
Amanda Lassiter fed Smith for a basket 45 seconds into the extra session to snap a 71-71 tie, igniting a 10-0 burst and gave Minnesota the lead for good. Lassiter and Smith added 3-pointers and Stacey Lovelace-Tolbert's basket capped the tear with 66 seconds remaining.
The Lynx extended their home winning streak to four games and got back to the .500 mark at 9-9 for the first time since June 16. Sunday's victory came two days after Minnesota rallied from a 20-point deficit in the final seven minutes for a 61-59 win over the Phoenix Mercury.
Tangela Smith scored 19 points and Yolanda Griffith added 18 for Sacramento, which missed six of seven shots in overtime. The Monarchs fell to 1-3 on a five-game road trip.
