Los Angeles completed its trip with a 3-2 mark and improved to 5-6 on the road. However, the Sparks (9-6) have played just four home games and have the majority of their remaining schedule at the Staples Center.
Mabika scored 11 points as Los Angeles shot 64 percent (18-of-28) in the first half and built a 53-42 lead at the break. Minnesota pulled within 61-57 on rookie Tasha Butts two free throws with 9:26 left.
Nikki Teasley, who finished with 11 points and seven assists, countered with a 3-pointer for the Sparks and the Lynx never got the margin below seven points over the final nine minutes.
Rookie Christi Thomas scored 14 points off the bench and Lisa Leslie fouled out with 13. Thomas' paced a 37-point effort by the Sparks' reserves.
Star guard Katie Smith managed only five points - all in the first half - for Minnesota, which has lost five out of six games. Rookie Nicole Ohlde led the Lynx with 19 points.
