SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 20 (Ticker) -- Without a chance to make the playoffs, the San Antonio Silver Stars played spoilers with a 78-70 overtime triumph over the Seattle Storm.

Marie Ferdinand scored six of her 25 points in the extra period, when the Silver Stars were 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Adrienne Goodson led San Antonio with 26 points and helped the Silver Stars defeat the Storm for the third time in four meetings this season.

Seattle (16-16) has lost five straight for the first time since the 2001 campaign and fell 1 1/2 games behind Sacramento for the fourth and final Western Conference playoff spot with two contests remaining.

The Storm trailed, 64-58, with 95 seconds to go in regulation. But Sue Bird and Sandy Brondello buried three-pointers in a 37-second span to force overtime.

Lauren Jackson scored 22 points, Brondello finished with 12 and Bird had 10 for Seattle.
