SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 16 (Ticker) -- Katie Smith scored 17 points and
Svetlana Abrosimova added 12 and 10 rebounds as the Minnesota
Lynx swept the season series from the San Antonio Silver Stars
with a 73-64 victory.
The Lynx defeated the Silver Stars for the fourth time in as
many meetings this season. They moved into a tie with the
Seattle Storm for third place in the Western Conference playoff
race with four games left.
Minnesota had an eight-point halftime lead, but San Antonio
rallied to take a 47-45 edge with 15:14 to go. The Lynx
responded with 10 consecutive points, highlighted by five from
Smith, and scored 16 of the next 20 for a 61-51 cushion.
Minnesota held on due to the strength of its bench, which
outscored San Antonio's reserves, 24-5.
Tamika Williams scored 13 points and reserve Michele Van Gorp
added nine for the Lynx, who held a 39-25 rebounding advantage.
Adrienne Goodson scored 20 points and Margo Dydek added 14 as
the Silver Stars lost for the fourth time in six games.
