SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 9 (Ticker) -- Adrienne Goodson scored 15 points as
the San Antonio Silver Stars routed the Los Angeles Sparks,
69-52, to snap a three-game losing streak.
The Sparks, who have lost five of their last six games as they
continue to struggle without injured All-Star center LisaLeslie, missed their first 16 shots and never recovered, falling
into an 18-0 hole 11 minutes into the game.
Nikki Teasleyfinally got the Sparks on the board with a pair of
free throws and Tamecka Dixon made Los Angeles' first basket
1:17 later. Dixon led the Sparks with 15 points.
The Sparks shot just 17 percent (5-of-29) from the field in the
first half and 29 pecent (16-of-56) overall.
The Silver Stars were not much better in the first half,
shooting 29 percent (9-of-31) and opening a 26-16 lead. They
pulled away in the second half, leading by as many as 24 points.
San Antonio shot 67 percent (16-of-24) after halftime.
Marie Ferdinand added 13 points for San Antonio. Jennifer Azzi had all nine of her points in the second half.
