Cash totaled 17 points in the first half as Detroit shot 61 percent and took a 47-28 lead into the locker room. The Shock never let the margin slip below 13 points in the second half and finished at 52.5 percent (31-of-59).
Ruth Riley and Kedra Holland-Corn added 13 points apiece and Elaine Powell and Deanna Nolan each chipped in 10 for the Shock, who moved 5 1/2 games ahead of second-place Charlotte in the Eastern Conference.
The Sun could not overcome their largest halftime deficit of the season, shot 37 percent (25-for-67) and lost for just the second time in seven games.
Katie Douglas paced Connecticut with 14 points.
