Edna Campbell added 15 points, Kara Lawson had 14 and Yolanda Griffith 11 for the Monarchs, who avenged a 72-71 loss to the Lynx in their season opener on May 24.
Minnesota, which fell to 0-2 on a three-game road trip, dropped a 76-75 decision to two-time defending champion Los Angeles on Tuesday when Lisa Leslie followed her own miss at the buzzer.
The Lynx appeared to shake off the defeat, jumping out to an 11-4 lead just over four minutes into the contest. But the Monarchs came back and took the lead for good, 25-22, on a three-pointer by Ruthie Bolton with 1:35 left in the first half.
Sacramento had a 29-24 halftime lead and extended it to 55-40 on a layup by Lawson with 9:45 remaining. The Lynx climbed within 62-55 on a layup by Sheri Sam that capped a 7-0 run with 3:10 to play but were blanked thereafter.
Tamika Williams scored 15 points and Janell Burse added 13 for Minnesota, which received just eight points from Katie Smith and three on 1-for-10 shooting from Svetlana Abrosimova.
