Ferdinand scored 22 points as the Silver Stars rallied from an 11-point halftime deficit and snapped a four-game skid with a 70-55 victory over the Phoenix Mercury.

San Antonio lost its fourth straight - its longest losing streak since the 1999 season when the team was in Utah. The Silver Stars suffered an ugly 67-52 loss at Charlotte on Wednesday, shooting a franchise-record low 31 percent (15-of-52).

Veteran point guard Jennifer Azzi led a players-only team meeting after that defeat, but the message took some time to get through. Phoenix led by as many as 12 points in the first half and settled for a 37-26 edge at halftime.

Ferdinand came alive by scoring 11 points in a 25-5 tear that opened up a 54-45 advantage for San Antonio with 7:11 remaining. Rookie Gwen Jackson's tip-in with 11:17 left to play came in the midst of the run and gave the Silver Stars the lead for good, 46-45.

Adrienne Goodson scored 13 points and Margo Dydek added 12 for San Antonio, which avenged a 51-50 setback at Phoenix on May 28. Jackson grabbed nine rebounds while Azzi did not score in 22 minutes.

Adrian Williams collected 18 points and nine rebounds for Phoenix, which shot just 37 percent (20-of-54). The Mercury's frustration showed when first-year coach John Shumate was whistled for a technical in the game's final minutes.

Mercury rookie Plenette Pierson managed only two points after averaging 7.4 points in her first five games.
