San Antonio managed to get within, 49-46, when Marie Ferdinand drove for a layup with 6:23 to play. Tammy Sutton-Brown responded with a jumper for a 51-46 lead with 4:54 left and the Sting held the Silver Stars without a basket until Gwen Jackson hit a jumper at the buzzer.
Sutton-Brown had 10 points and nine rebounds and Kelly Miller contributed 10 points in 24 minutes off the bench for Charlotte, which held a 33-26 advantage on the boards.
Ferdinand scored 15 points, but was just 3-of-11 from the floor as the Silver Stars lost their fourth straight game since a season-opening win over Seattle.
