MIAMI, July 17 (Ticker) -- Tangela Smith had 18 points and Kedra Holland-Corn added 17 as the Sacramento Monarchs finally posted their first road win of the season with a 78-62 victory over the Miami Sol.

Smith's layup with just over seven minutes left in the contest capped a 16-2 run and opened a commanding 67-46 lead for Sacramento, which snapped its 10-game road losing streak from the start of the 2002 campaign.

Holland-Corn was one of four Monarchs to register double-figure points. Yolanda Griffith contributed 14 and Ruthie Bolton came off the bench to score 13.

Bolton tallied nine in the opening half as Sacramento grabbed a 36-29 halftime edge.

Miami reserve Betty Lennox led the Sol with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, but Miami failed to reach .500 for the first time this season.

The Sol yielded their biggest point-total of the season. They permitted the Monarchs to score 20 on fast breaks and 48 in the paint.

Sandy Brondello, who scored 10, was the only other Sol player to reach double figures as Miami's four-game winning streak was snapped and the team's home record slipped to 5-7.

The teams have split four all-time meetings.
