Catchings scored a franchise-record 32 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds as the Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty for the first time, 71-62.

Catchings was drafted in 2001 but missed all of last season due to a knee injury. But she has bounced back in strong fashion and is making up for lost time with a dominant start to the season.

Catchings has led the Fever in scoring in each of their three wins and recorded the best offensive game in team history on Saturday. She made 7-of-15 shots from the floor and 14-of-16 free throws to eclipse Monica Maxwell's previous record of 29 points set on June 28, 2000.

Indiana took the lead for good, 29-28 on a pair of free throws by Catchings with 57 seconds left in the first half.

The Fever had a 33-30 halftime lead and scored nine of the first 11 points in the second half. Catchings scored six points during the run, which gave Indiana a 42-32 lead at 16:27.

The Fever had their largest lead, 47-36 after Rita Williams buried two free throws with 13:53 to go.

Olympia Scott-Richardson scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting and Alicia Thompson added nine off the bench for Indiana, which defeated New York for the first time in four tries.

The Fever shot just 41 percent (18-of-44) from the floor but made 7-of-16 3-pointers and 28-of-38 free throws.

Tamika Whitmore scored 18 points and Vickie Johnson added 13 for New York, which had a four-game winning streak snapped.
