Minnesota Lynx guard and All-WNBA First Team member Katie Smith chatted with WNBA.com during Game 2 of the WNBA Finals.

What was the toughest part of the 2003 season?

Katie Smith
It's not just one particular tough part. It was more just the whole season in general, trying to maintain throughout the season despite fatigue.

Who was the hardest player you had to face and why?

Katie Smith
It's hard to name one player, but I'd say Lisa Leslie obviously. With Detroit, [Cheryl] Ford and [Ruth] Riley were really tough. Every team really has one or two players that give you trouble.

Were there specific goals you'd set for yourself this season? Did you reach them?

Katie Smith
I didn't set any individual goals, but obviously we wanted to make the playoffs, which we did. Next year, we'll set some higher ones.

What are your plans for the offseason?

Katie Smith
Plans for the offseason are to become an assistant at Ohio State and work with the women's basketball team and take some classes to refresh my brain, then hopefully apply to dental school within a year.

Are there things you want to work on basketball-wise during the offseason?

Katie Smith
More consistency shooting the ball, ball handling and just overall staying in shape.

What do you think your team needs to do to improve for next year?

Katie Smith
I think we need to get a little stronger inside so that we can match up better against the L.A.s and Detroits without having to double so much. We need to stay more consistent as far as turnovers and be more efficient at knocking down shots.

Anything you don't have time to do in the season that you're looking forward to doing this offseason?

Katie Smith
I like going to Cedar Point, which I don't have time to do. Cooking a bit more, seeing family friends, going to OSU football games. Just enjoying spending time at home.

Who is your favorite NBA team and why?

Katie Smith
The Dallas Mavericks are my favorite team. I like their style, their players. They love to play the game. There aren't too many big time players on that team. Everyone's kind of equal and they all go out there and do their jobs every night.

Who is your favorite NBA player and why?

Katie Smith
I'll go with Dirk Nowitzki and KG [Kevin Garnett]. I love the way they play. KG plays so hard all the time at both ends of the floor, and Dirk is seven feet and can do everything.

Who is your pick to win the 2003-04 NBA title?

Katie Smith
I'll have to go with with L.A. They got some veterans who are hungry to win. And Shaq is obviously always a force. Even if they don't have Kobe, I think they'll be a force to be reckoned with.

Katie Smith
Thanks for all the support this year. It's been fun, and enjoy the Finals.
