ESPN2 Analyst Ann Meyers Answers Three Burning Questions:
Which current NBA player would make a good WNBA coach? "My favorite player just retired, John Stockton. He's got such a great mind. If you look at a lot of the NBA head coaches, how many of them are guards?"
It's back-to-school time. What kind of lunchbox did you have as a kid? "We had bags. We couldn't afford pails. We had the bags, we had a family of 11 kids, so it was the brown paper bags."
If you were invited, what wedding gift would you get Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez? "A thing I give newlyweds and new parents are those name plaques that describe what their names are."

It's back-to-school time. What kind of lunchbox did you have as a kid? "I had a Snoopy lunchbox. I just loved 'Peanuts' and Snoopy was my man. I had to have my Snoopy lunchbox with peanut butter and jelly, some chips, two or three snacks, a drink."
If you were invited, what wedding gift would you get Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez? "They have everything! I would get them Sparks tickets."

Time to Shrine:
Mercy Sanchez of Ventura, Calif. drives 2½ hours to every Sparks home game. But she doesn't drive, or watch the game, alone. In addtion to having season tickets since 1998, Sanchez has her Sparks shrine, complete with Lisa Leslie and Michael Cooper bobblehead dolls. She's started the shrine two seasons ago. She's hoping the shrine shines for the third straight season.

Shock Center Ruth Riley Answers Three Burning Questions:
Which current NBA player would make a good WNBA coach? "That's an interesting question. I'm going to stick with my Notre Dame boy, LaPhonso Ellis. He's a player that's been through it all like [Bill Laimbeer and Michael Cooper]. And he's from Notre Dame."
It's back-to-school time. What kind of lunchbox did you have as a kid? "Scooby Doo, I liked the cartoon."
If you were invited, what wedding gift would you get Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez? "[Laughs] Do they need anything? I would guarantee that I would star in their next movie with them."

How Do You Hairdo?
Kathleen Sullivan and Roxanne Cheong show their spirit at Game 1 of the 2003 WNBA Finals. Sullivan, sported the purple-and-gold mohawk and No. 12 jersey given to all Sparks season ticket holders, and Cheong brought the rally monkey. The Sparks didn't need it as they ran away to a 75-63 win in Game 1.

Courtside Perks:
Members of the Sparks' staff place jerseys on the back of the courtside seats before Game 1. Those sitting in those seats were urged to "Wear it, wave it or save it: Either way you have to support your Sparks." Such are the perks of sitting courtside.

Strike Up the House Band:
Before, during and after the game, the band "Clueless" entertained the fans at STAPLES Center with some SoCal funk. Keyboardist Vincent Bonham said the band has played three Sparks games during the season and often plays the plaza in front of the arena before Lakers games.

Lakers' Guard Derek Fisher Answers Three Burning Questions:
Which current NBA player would make a good WNBA coach? "Brian Shaw. Brian would make a great coach. He has a great understanding of the game. He's calm, he's cool, he's collected. As a coach, you need to have that."
It's back-to-school time. What kind of lunchbox did you have as a kid? "Definitely something sports related. I didn't watch a lot of television, so I wasn't into the Incredible Hulk or Spiderman. Something with basketballs on it."
If you were invited, what wedding gift would you get Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez? "Probably get them courtside seats, right next to our bench so that, if we can't be with her, we can see her when we come to work."

A Bold Prediction:
Sparks fans had their banners ready in case of a Game 1 win. As Shock coach Bill Laimbeer strode to the locker room, the Sparks' faithful gave him an earful about a three-peat. The Shock will have something to say about that on Sunday as the series moves to Auburn Hills (4 p.m. ET, ABC).
