Storylines and Promotions

• Wednesday’s annual afternoon game is Kids Day presented by Knozone. Kids and campers from throughout the city will convene at Conseco Fieldhouse for the 1 p.m. tipoff that promises to be filled with energy all afternoon. Kids activities will fill the main concourse and the first 3,000 fans will receive Fever cheer stix.

• The Fever looks to for its 12th win and hopes to improve its home winning streak to eight straight games when Connecticut visits Wednesday afternoon. The only flaw on the Fever’s home record this season came in its home opener on May 15th. Indiana has not lost to Connecticut at home since 2008.

• Two Fever players participated in the Stars at the Sun on Saturday, July 10th. Tamika Catchings started for USA Basketball and Katie Douglas played for the WNBA All-Stars. Douglas added another note to her resume by winning the WNBA’s annual 3-point competition before the game.

• Currently, the Fever sits third in the Eastern Conference behind Atlanta and Washington. Indiana went 4-1 in its last five games against Eastern Conference opponents. Overall, the Fever won six of its last eight games, and plays seven of its next 10 at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Players to Watch
Fever –Katie Douglas
There’s something about playing your old team that motivates Fever players. Former Shock star Shavonte Zellous showed this last week, and veteran guard Katie Douglas consistently proves this theory against her old team - Connecticut. In the last five games against her former team, Douglas has averaged 19.2 points. She led the Fever against the Sun on June 13 with 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Not to mention, Douglas is fresh off winning her first WNBA 3-point competition and leading the WNBA All-Stars last weekend with 15 points, both of which were at Connecticut.

Sun – Tina Charles
The rookie center out of UConn has made quite a bid for both Rookie of the Year and league MVP. Charles averages a double-double of 15.9 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. Only half a season into her career she has set several rookie and franchise records, and is en route to breaking many more. Despite her dominating performances, Connecticut lost three straight contests before the break. Second-year guard Anete Jekabsone-Zogota injured her knee on June 27. Since then Connecticut is 1-3, and still searching for a steady starting replacement.

Last Games
Fever – Indiana capped the first half of the season with a 100-72 routing of Tulsa. Tamika Catchings led all scorers with 24 points. The real story was the Fever bench which combined for a record 50 points against the Shock. Second-year guards Shavonte Zellous and Briann January scored 16 and 13 points, respectively. The team nearly set another franchise records by shooting 54.3 percent from the field and scoring 100 points.

Sun - The Sun lost an overtime battle, 108-103, with the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Dream before the all-star break. Connecticut broke a franchise record for field goals attempted (94) in that contest. Rookie Tina Charles led the Sun with 27 points and 20 rebounds. Every Sun player scored in the loss, and the team combined for a season-high 27 assists.

These Eastern Conference rivals have met twice this year with each team winning at home. In fact, the home team has been victorious in the last six meetings between these two teams. The last time the visiting team won, Sun defeated the Fever in Indiana on 8/28/08. Connecticut still controls the all-time series 26-17.
