Storylines & Promotions

• Indiana faces off against the number one ranked team in the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Dream.

• A win against the Dream would pull the Fever within a game of Atlanta for first place in the conference.

• Each team is coming off a loss in its last game. The Fever was upended by the Connecticut Sun, 77-68, and Atlanta lost at Minnesota, 83-81.

• The Fever is 5-1 this season in games following a loss.

• Bench play has been key to the Fever success this season. Currently, Indiana leads the Eastern Conference with 26.2 points per game from its reserves and is second in the league behind Tulsa.

Players to Watch
Fever -Tamika Catchings
On Wednesday, Catchings made history by becoming just the 10th player in WNBA history to accumulate at least 2,000 career rebounds. Despite the loss to Connecticut, Catchings led the Fever with 22 points and nine rebounds. Catchings also set the tone defensively for the Fever early in the game, as she had four steals in the first quarter. Showing her all-around game she also collected two assists and two blocked shots. In her last four games she is averaging 19.8 points per contest. .

Dream - Erika de Souza
After getting off to a bit of a cold start, de Souza has had a hot month of July. So far this month, in four games, the Brazilian native is averaging 14.8 points per game and 13 rebounds per contest. In the Dream’s most recent game, de Souza scored 18 points and pulled down 20 rebounds. This season, de Souza has 11 double-double performances.

Last Games
Fever - In a game where the Fever led by as many as nine and were up two going into the fourth quarter, Indiana lost 77-68 at home against Connecticut. The Fever was outrebounded 41-34 and gave up 19 second chance points in the game. Aside from 22 points from Catchings, the bench scored below its normal average and the team as a whole gave up too many rebounds down the stretch. The Fever got within two at 68-66 on a Katie Douglas 3-pointer with two minutes left, but couldn’t get any closer.

Dream -Atlanta lost for the second time in three games as they fell on the road against Minnesota, 83-81. Minnesota led most of the first half and was up 12 at the half, but Atlanta came back and had the game tied with 17.5 second left in the fourth quarter. Rebekkah Brunson hit the game-winning shot for the Lynx with 7.2 seconds left to beat the Dream. Despite outrebounding Minnesota 48-38, Atlanta hit just one of its 18 3-point attempts. The game went back and fourth with 16 lead changes and eight ties, but Minnesota got the victory.

Series
The Fever leads the all-time series against the Dream at 6-3. So far this season each team has won on its home floor. After tonight’s matchup the two teams meet twice more this season. Indiana has won three of the last four games in the series and has only lost once at home to Atlanta.
