Packed Schedule for Catchings at All-Star Weekend

Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings will represent the Fever and the WNBA at a number of events at the NBA's All-Star Weekend, Feb. 13-16 in New Orleans. Catchings, an eight-time WNBA All-Star and three-time Olympic gold medalist, will participate in the All-Star Celebrity Game and two special games organized by NBA Cares and WNBA Cares.

Catchings will also participate in numerous media and community appearances throughout the weekend, joining the Pacers All-Stars (players Paul George and Roy Hibbert, head coach Frank Vogel, and assistant coaches Nate McMillan, Dan Burke, and Popeye Jones) to form an impressive contingent from Pacers Sports & Entertainment.

On Thursday night, Feb. 13, Catchings will serve as an honorary coach for the 16th annual NBA/NWBA All-Star Wheelchair Classic. The game will feature the top athletes from NBA-affiliated National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) teams. Catchings and NBA legend John Starks will be honorary coaches for the West team, while the Atlanta Dream's Ruth Riley and Darryl Dawkins will be honorary coaches for the East team.

Then, on Friday, Feb. 14, Catchings will play in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, playing for the West team, coached by ESPN analyst and Grantland.com editor-in-chief Bill Simmons. Catchings is becoming a mainstay in the Celebrity Game, having appeared in several games over the years, including 2011, 2012, and 2013. The Tulsa Shock's Skylar Diggins and the Chicago Sky's Elena Delle Donne are also among this year's participants. The Celebrity Game will be broadcast live on ESPN on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. EST. Finally, on Sunday, Feb. 16, Catchings will play in the third annual NBA Cares Special Olympics Unified Sports Basketball Game. This year’s game will feature 12 Special Olympics athletes from around the globe playing alongside NBA Legends Dikembe Mutombo, Detlef Schrempf, Ron Harper, A.C. Green, and current WNBA stars Catchings, Riley, Delle Donne, and Lindsey Harding. NBA rising stars Michael Carter-Williams, Victor Oladipo, Tim Hardaway, Jr. and Trey Burke will serve as honorary coaches with father-son duo Dell and Stephen Curry participating in the honorary tip-off and All-Star Kevin Love handling player-introduction duties.
