New Logo for 5th Anniversary

Indiana Fever News Release
Indianapolis, Feb. 23, 2004
The Indiana Fever tips off its fifth season in the Women’s National Basketball Association this spring, with a series of events and fan activities planned to celebrate the steady growth and maturation of the franchise. To commemorate its fifth year of play in the WNBA, the Fever has redesigned its logo for the 2004 season, to help the team and its fans celebrate their accomplishments since Indiana’s first WNBA season in 2000.

The Fever has become a steady and consistent franchise within the WNBA. The Indiana franchise has grown from its opening season into a WNBA playoff contender on the court, and a viable business operation whose expanding corporate structure has established a niche in the Central Indiana community.

For the first time in its brief history, the Fever sold out Conseco Fieldhouse for its opening home game last summer. Indiana led the WNBA in group sales revenue during the 2004 season, making a jump from a ninth-place ranking the previous season. Indiana averaged 8,340 fans in 17 home dates last year.

The Fever sent two players to the WNBA All-Star Game last summer - another first - including standout forward Tamika Catchings who will star with the U.S. Olympic Team this summer. Catchings has become one of the world’s premier women’s basketball attractions and is expected to entertain Fever fans for years to come.

Without its fans, the Fever would not have reached a fifth season in today’s difficult economy. To honor those fans, and allow them to take part in the team’s anniversary season, fans and Season Ticket Holders will participate in several of the various events, flashbacks and other activities throughout the upcoming season.

One example of the franchise’s efforts to acknowledge its fans for its first four successful seasons is the efforts of the Fever ticket staff in placing personal photos of Season Ticket Holders on the front of its ticket stock for 2004 season tickets. A photo of a different Season Ticket Holder will accompany each of 17 regular season game tickets.

From a business and corporate standpoint, the Fever will conduct a Fifth Anniversary Corporate Tipoff Luncheon at Conseco Fieldhouse on March 3 that will feature numerous local and state civic leaders, with WNBA President Val Ackerman as its guest speaker.

The Fever formally begins the 2004 schedule hosting consecutive home games in May. Indiana hosts the New York Liberty on Friday, May 21, and the Washington Mystics on Sunday, May 23. For season ticket information, call 317-917-2500.
